request

does anyone have considerable knowledge about how to register copyrights or obtain a patent? is it country-dependent? how much it costs? where to register? etc.

okay, this is what i know about patents. since i love you so much, i'll take my free time here in montreal and type up what i know. LOL.

firstly, patents are different than copyrights eh? Secondly, its best to write up a patent with a patent agent...but you can do your own research on that, since i know nothing about that.
the rights of a patent extend i think throughout canada but don't apply to foreign countries....so if you want them to apply internationally, you have to apply to the other countries separately. as for costs...i think there's 3 fees? but i could be wrong...there's one for filing the patent, one for examining the patent and one for when the patent is granted. there's also yearly maintenance fees (I THINK)...you'll have to go find out about that yourself..i think CIPO is where you can find that out.prices range depending on year and how big your product is...i think it ranges from $100-$550/year (maintenance fees)and then there are other costs pertaining to applications...etc

anyways, hope that helps bro.
